  • Graphvis visualisation of Nagios Config – Nagios Exchange – Graphvis visualisation of complex Nagios configs.
    I have written a couple of utilities one to walk a nagios config tree and turn it into a perl hash (called nagparse)and another to use that hash converting the tree into a graphvis directed graph (called graphit). These are then brought together with a CGI program called explorenagios that lets you select what parts of the config to graph. If you have a non trivial config then showing it ALL in one graph is not fun!

    You can use the two component programs on the command line too – and feed the output into dot (it has been optomised to make nice dot graphs) or one of the other engines like neato if you want to do some hacking of the output options.

    It is now useful enough to be worth sharing. Not prefect yet but useful. Surprisingly fast.

  • What is FreeIPA? – FreeIPA is an integrated security information management solution combining Linux (Fedora), 389 (formerly known as Fedora Directory Server), MIT Kerberos, NTP, DNS. It consists of a web interface and command-line administration tools.
    In IPA v2 we added DNS and Dogtag Certificate Server, enhanced administrative framework, added support for host identities, netgroups, automount per location and more.

  • migrazione RedHat Enterprise Linux a CentOS eseguita! – Lo scorso anno acquistammo un serverino – dischi in fiber channel, 4 cpu quadcore, 32GB di RAM … la solita roba, insomma – con su Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Ovviamente quest’anno allo scadere della licenza non ci sono i fondi per proseguire con gli abbonamenti annuali…Che si fa? Si migra a CentOS, ovviamente!<br />
    Per fortuna la procedura di migrazione è stata semplice, immediata e rispettosa del tutorial proposto nell’apposita pagina del wiki ufficiale.
  • Backup su HSDPA con router Linux – La settimana scorsa Stefano ha avuto un down tremendo della HDSL, più di 72 ore, quasi insopportabili per una azienda al giorno d’oggi. Per questo motivo mi ha chiesto di aggiungere al firewall/router che già gestisce le policy di rete, un backup su HSDPA automatico che attivi la connessione su 3G non appena il link ADSL cade.<br />
